southern middle tennessee | Right now we use shelled rolled corn(raised on farm), sbm, and mineral as our main feed. our cattle will work up to about 20 lbs day on this feed and gain well 2.7-3.0 day avg.
we were tossing around the idea of going to corn silage and want to keep the feed simple as in silage with sbm for protein or something of that sorts. how much would a 600lb calf eat to still reach those gains ?
Trying to do some numbers so maybe we will not have to dedicate so many acres to corn every year.
