Subject: help me design a dual tank fuel system in a pickup

Madison Co. Virginia
Putting a LS 5.3 engine into a squarebody chevy with dual tanks. All wiring is my own design, so nothing factory applies. For those unfamiliar with these, the ep381 pump fits directly in place of the original low pressure '87 tbi pump. The corvette filter/regulator is commonly used in these swaps.

In the diagram, is there any risk of using those check valves as shown? Could anything occur that would over-pressurize the fuel rail, such as a hot engine bay "cooking the fuel"? Would you have any suggestions on other ways to build this, simplify this, or what parts to use? I'm hoping to avoid AN fittings, just to keep replacement parts locally available.
