Bancroft, Iowa | I’ve got a 1982 4440 that developed a pretty significant knock. Was fine one day and the next there was a noticeable knock after starting. 8,000 hours. Was hoping it was a valve train issue, pulled valve cover and noticed there’s no oil getting to top of the engine. Oil gauge starts out at 0 and when engine starts will move right to normal operating range.
Wondering if a cam bearing spun will that block oil getting to the top? Could whatever is keeping oil from getting to the top of engine prevent proper lube to the crank and rods while still registering oil pressure on the gauge? Scratching my head a bit about trying to diagnose what I’ve got going on here. | |
