Bancroft, Iowa | Figured out the knock. One piston had a broken ring, must have worn the piston until it was thin enough to make it into the combustion chamber. Bottom end all looks good. Looks like I got lucky.
As far as the top end oiling issue, I’m hoping there isn’t one. There is fairly fresh oil residue up there, and am hoping the fact that I didn’t notice oil while it was running was due to the fact that I wasn’t willing to give it any more throttle than necessary because of the knock. Will put a new sleeve and piston in and see if it is oiling up there when it’s running again.
