Subject: Feeding non-protein nitrogen- what size is too small?

At what point is it ok to switch from an 32% protein pellet to a 40% pellet that’s 20% npn? Does it harm smaller animals or do they just not utilize the npn part of it efficiently? Its $4/bag cheaper for higher protein.
