Depends too on what you're feeding. Holsteins can use NPN a little younger - I always figured around 500#, colored cattle probably 750# like Garvo said. I don't know if urea is any harm to a smaller animal, but they definitely aren't going to get anything out of it. So essentially your 40:20 pellets are going to feed like 20% pellets to a smaller calf.
