Subject: Question about Death and Forward Contracts

South Central Iowa
Really sad to hear SAT (TAS) Marty passed away. Shame to see that. I assume it must have been a heart type issue, seems that is what kills most farmers who die in their 50's. But I shouldn't assume I guess....

SAT was big on the early contracting, hope not a marketing strategy idea. What would happen to the contracts of a farmer who passed away before the crop was even planted?

If his son or son in law or brother or whoever were part of the operation, I presume they would just fulfill the delivery. But what if it's someone whose heirs don't even farm? Or what if there are no heirs? Do you file a claim against the estate?

What does an elevator do with those contracts? Maize? Krush? I see you posted.... Surely this has occurred to anyone who has merchandized very long.
