SW, Missouri | Ok now that I have your attention I have a little question, couple weeks ago we ran cows through and preg checked our spring herds. All groups but one ran 4-6% open which I was very pleased with concerning the summer we had. One group was 18% open and this same group was 24% open last year. Different bulls this summer but the cows have good grass and care just like every other group. This particular place where these cows reside has a river that runs through it and up stream from the property line a municipal lagoon filters out and runs into the stream. Am i crazy to think this is having an effect on getting cows bred? I'm not saying the cattle could be completely fenced out of the creek but there is pasture on both sides and it would be very difficult to keep a fence up especially with the flooding we get at times. I've been thinking about this ever since we checked them, any thoughts? |
