| We have one 60 acre field that was grid soil sampled in September of 2017. The grids were 2.5 acres in size. The field called for some lime as the pH was variable from 5.7 to 7.2. We didn't apply lime as it was going to wheat, so we thought it would work better this summer after the wheat was off. We decided to have the field grid sampled again after wheat harvest with the same exact grids set up. Well, some of the grids that called for lime in 2017 now in 2018 they were fine. Some grids pH went from 7.2 in 2017 to 6.5 this year and some went from 6.0 last year to 6.5 this year. The average pH difference across all 24 grids was .3. The CEC numbers were equally as variable. This leaves me a bit confused and wondering if grid sampling is that reliable. | |
