Extreme SW Minnesota Iowa border | Sold some grain to an elevator this summer. I had been a member there for years, but the last few years, I had not sold much there. About 2 years ago, they merged with another elevator. I just assumed that I was still a patron, and was part of the new elevator. About, September, they informed me I wasn't a part of the coop, and asked if I would like to be a member. I said, sure, go ahead. I thought it would be retroactive, to when I started selling grain this summer.
Well, come to find out, I didn't get accepted as a member till Jan 1 this year, 2018. So, now, I get no dividend, on the Grain sold for all of last year, and I don't get any of the Domestic Production Activiies Deduction. My question is, WHY would they do it like that? I think I am done doing business with them. Never have heard of having to apply for memebership in an elevator, and having to have your membership approved. Any ideas?
