Subject: Feeders Up Again...

Napanee, Ontario
Been 2 steps forward and a half step back for a while now... almost mid 170's on some contracts. The boys in Chicago starting to read the writing on the wall or what?

this piece out over at Drover's yesterday.
http://www.cattlenetwork.com/cattle-news/USDA-Beef-production-drops...

"Although the U.S. beef-cow inventory appears to have reached a bottom, growth in cow numbers will start out slowly, and it likely will take several years for the turnaround to become evident in larger beef production"

"it will take until at least 2016 before total beef supplies rise above current levels"

How many of you feeders are planning to add more to carcass weights than usual in this envronment (cheap corn, high feeders)? Is there even much room on that end...? i.e. carcass wts are already lots higher than they used to be.

Seems like that will only fix supply constraint until/if corn goes higher, or until you run out of bone structure on the animal. Lots of these blacks can't take the lbs you can throw onto a char x simmi or other large frames...
