I had a Fairfield torque hub fail. Most of a 3 inch round cross section of cast iron. Clean break. I had been running it and it hasn't been subject to any bad shock load in the last while,,, more than normal.
Looks like it is rated at 5500 pounds radial load. Shouldn't have been overloaded.
I dunno why. Just deal with it, I guess.
