Subject: Help on JD 9760 STS Combine

Winsted MN Central MN
I have a JD 9760 STS combine that I have to keep replacing the belt and the upper shives on the feedhouse. These parts are getting very hot. Replace 3 time this year. ( $$$ ) I had JD out and set it up by the book and what JD said to do. I run a JD 635F and a JD 608 or 612 chopping head at 4 to 5 MPH at about 160 to 200+ BPA . I could put a fixed drive on it but then I can not change the speed of my feeder house becouse of the fixed drive from bean 520 RPM to corn 650 RPM. I do not want to change the sprocket on the corn heads. Do you think this would work. I would like to put on a chain drive on the feeder house. I would have to remove the lower belt and the upper and lower shives and the belt tightener. I would have to put on # 60 H or 80 H chain with 2 different sizes sprocket on both ends to get different speeds and a chain tightener on it. Do you see any probems with this set up. I do not want to buy a different combine at this time (JD 9870 STS)
