Subject: ¿ High Mg soils treated with gypsum?

Little River, TX
I assume at least one university study has done this, but has any farm operator, treated a high magnesium soil & sampled water coming from drainage tile? Do any of the farmers who saw positive results from gypsum have tile drainage for their soil and possibly looked tested the water for disolved minerals. Even better did a before and after sampling.

I ask because as I understand the chemistry, clay has a greater attraction for Mg than it does for K. My logic tells me that there would be an increase in soluble potassium, and there would be an even greater leaching of K than Mg.

During the dark of last night I got to wondering if applying gypsum releases more potash than magnesium.

This started me thinking the use of gypsum to improve soil tilth and/or productivity may be a coincidental effect rather than a causative.
