Chebanse, IL..... | Since about the 1st of the year I've noticed fiber optic (orange pvc cable) being plowed-dug-bored along the side of Illinois interstate highways. All the work is being done on the highway side of the right-of-way. I've seen it along several different interstates, therefore I assume all of them in IL....maybe other states, don't know. This looks like a very expensive project. Boring at EVERY overpass, which is quite some distance in many cases.
So, does anyone here know factually just what or who this project is for? I'm surprised if it's a private enterprise that it can be placed inside of the state fencelines on their right of way. Even our drainage tile that were in place before the interstate have become orphaned just because you can't dig on interstates.
Anyone know the story on the thousands & thousands of miles of fiber optic being installed?
