| I have been thinking over the past year. Some things that stand out.
It was a good year for the farm with high grain prices. We had a wet spring followed by a dry late summer and a great fall. Our corn yields were about average, beans below.
We bought our first green tractor last winter and enjoyed running it. We have always been a multicolored farm and have had green combines since the mid 80s, but this was the first green tractor and probably won't be the last.
Our oldest son, who graduated college in late 2010, found a job in his field and moved to Kansas City. And our youngest son seems to have found his calling in the agronomy field, studying at siuc.
But by far the biggest thing that happened here was when I crushed my hand. It is amazing how a couple of dumb decisions and a split second alters everything. That split second has affected every day since and will affect every day for the forseeable future. It has caused me to be even more thankful for my loving wife, the caring and help from friends and family, and the grace of God.
So, how about you? What stands out from your last 365 days? | |
