Subject: delay cutting hay because of birds

East central ontario
Ontario ministry of natural resources is proposing that farmers wait to cut first cut hay until at least late july preferably august to protect the endangered "bobolink" bird! I just about fell off my chair when I heard this, but then I googled it and OFA has 2 years to come up with a solution. We milk 300 cows and rely on good quality hay for protein, we start first cut last week of may then every thirty days after that with 2,3,4 cuts following. Can you believe this waiting to cut hay then would require wood splitters not haybines, I can't beleive this could actually happen, it was on CBC radio this morning.
