Subject: Drawing NH3 out of the "end" of tanks

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I saw a photo of a multi-purpose fertilizer rig of the strip-till nature. This rig was appying liquid fertilizer and NH3 in a single pass.

I noticed on the photo that the NH3 was apparently being drawn from the nurse trailer via a fitting on the end of the tank. There were no connections to the usual valves on the top of the tank. The rig was equipped with two Raven Accu-flow systems and the supply line from each seemed to come out of the "bulged" portion on the front end of the nurse trailer.

I had never seen this before. Is this common in other parts of the country? The photo was from Texas.

I'm curious as to the purpose and/or advantage of this plumbing arrangement. Apparently there is some type of draw pipe that runs to the bottom of the tanks to continue to draw liquid.
