Subject: Protecting Hydraulic Cyl shafts from rust....

Regina/ 14 miles South of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan
Curious what steps any of you take to keep from having rusting/pitting problems with hydraulic cylinders on equipment that unfortunately has to sit outside between use...

I ended up wiping a thin coating of lithium grease on the 7 exposed rams on our air seeder (put $2,000 into rebuilding them all this past spring) - not sure if that was a good idea or not - just didn't want a repeat of pitting and seal loss in the future....

In a perfect world we'd be able to get everything indoors - but for now cultivators, disk & air seeder have to winter outside

Thanks

Doug W.
