nw mb | Got a couple hayburners that ussually get grass hay all winter (supplmented with oats), due to the hay shortage up here I could not justify spending more for low quality grass hay then I am selling my alfalfa for. My plan is to feed alfalfa bales by the fork full twice a day to limit them a bit. I know the protein content of alfalfa is significantly higher the any horse will ever need, are there any long term side effects of feeding this over 1 winter (will feed for about 7 months)? I expect them to put on some weight which will hopefully get worked off in the spring/summer. These are good horses but dont get much of a work out in the winter. | |
