| We have been feeding alfalfa to our horses for as long as I can remember as that is generally all we have on hand. We limit feed the alfalfa and keep an eye on condition to make sure they don't get too fat. Our nags will eat about anything we put in the bunk so we give them some wheat straw for filler. As for side effects- my daughter's 21 y.o. mare will stock up if she gets too much alfalfa so we keep on eye on that. Other than that we haven't had any problems. Good luck! | |
