S MN | Looking for some help/suggestions on remodeling an old red barn. Barn itself is in great shape, but the foundation likely needs to be redone. Rather then building a new house my wife and i considering remodeling an old red barn that we have on one of our farms and living in it.. She has always loved the idea of doing it, so we are trying to look into at least. Wondering if anyone has ever done something like this, or knows of someone who has done it. I know of a few barns that have been sorta remodeled for wedding purposes but not living. I've reached out to a couple lifting companies and it can be done, spoke with a couple cement guys. But i need to find an engineer to figure out what posts i can take out, what kind of beam i would put in.
Anyone got some suggestions, or friends that have done this they could pass along?
I am located in southern MN near the fairmont Area. Would be happy to travel a couple hours to look or talk to someone who did it. | |
