Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | A friend was telling me about a 7,000 acre plus land auction in NE Colorado last week. I looked it up after the auction on website, and have a few questions:
One parcel had so many acres of "deeded pasture and 634 acres State Lease Pasture with 211 AUMs."
a) What is State Leased Pasture? why is it still the States, it was bordered on two sides by other parcels of land being sold. Obvious answer is that the State of Colorado never sold it to anyone-correct? Why not?
b) What is a "AMU"? something to do with stocking density, I am guessing, please explain.
c) I don't understand-does (or how does) the lease of the State ground go with the purchased privately owned land?
Thanks for any answers in advance. Just goes to show you how much agriculture varies around the United States. Bruce. |
