West Central Iowa | Recently bought a rough looking 275 Deere disc mower which is really a Kuhn 700 painted green. I looked it over pretty thoroughly and knew it needed a good number of common wear parts, some attention and some TLC. I offered accordingly on the condition the bar itself was not cracked. Upon hooking it up to the tractor no cracks were visible so I brought it home. Started the repair process and about halfway through checked and added oil to the bar at which point oil started oozing out between where the bar is bolted to the gearbox. The crack is in a location that disassembling the mower is the only way to see it. How should I approach the dealer/salesperson in regards to the cracked bar.
Since hindsight is 20/20, maybe I should have bought a newer or better looking machine, but it is very possible "better looking" used machines could have similar problems. Used disk mowers are likely traded for a reason but it is a risk you take when you don't want to shell out the extra $ for new. | |
