We are only a few days from starting the crop insurance price setting period.  Right now new crop cash corn "here" is 5.59, and corn is right at $12.00, and the trend this week seems to be higher.  No real major reports till after Feb.   Can we push another 50 cents in the Month of February?  Well, the way the market moves right now, yes, if the starts align, that's "only"  $.10 for 5 days.  Can it drop $.50 cents?  Well, yeah, in about a day and a half, but, let's just assume for now that we stay about where we are, which seems likely.  Last years Feb price wound up being 6.01 on corn and $12.35?  on beans.  The exact numbers don't really matter.  All I'm saying is, we are about to lock in another year of pretty dang good prices.  If that is the case, land and rent still have only one way to go.
