Subject: Weaning calves with large age difference

perryton, tx
I'm considering weaning my calves to take some of the load off of my cows in this drought. The problem is while 80% of them are 4-6 months old, i have a handful of late ones which are 1.5-3 months. Do these need to be left on the cow for a while longer? I guess what i really want to know is what is the ideal age to pull them off the cow without hurting their performance. Thanks.
