Subject: Cummins Crankshafts

Iowa
Hi Guys,
I'm in the process of building an 855 and just got a crank for it that had been ground .010 and .010. I remember some stories about crankshafts breaking in these engines but I don't remember the details to why for sure. I think they may have been certain casting Nos. The original crank was a 3000140 and now I have a 3608833 which when checking on the cummins quickserve site I find out that the "new" crank must be newer since it shows that no. superceeding the oringianl crank no. Also anything else you guys recommend on these engines while it out of the frame and tore down. If it makes any difference mine is a B.C. 1/250hp./built in 81. Thanks for any information.
