Subject: getting sand laden manure out of manure pit

Over the years we have tried several ways to get sand in suspension so that it could be pumped out of a manure pit rather than trying to scoop It out. Pumping seems much more efficient. The last several years we used an agitation boat that worked pretty well but it has to put on a trailer to transfer between pits and the wireless controller's range isn't the best.
This year we used a manure agitation machine built by Nuhn. It is nothing less than amazing. The pictures are of it operating in a 11.5 million gallon pit with 16' walls. This is dairy manure that uses sand for bedding. It has 8 different jets which can be opened or closed to maneuver it around while it is agitating. This year we did not scoop out 1 load of solids. When the liquid level was down to about 10" we used 2 skid loaders and a 4wd to push toward the pump. We were able to get all but about 6" out this way.
