Subject: Backhoe rental, work ok on breaking up old concrete?

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

I have an old chicken house concrete slab (25'x35'), and old cattle water tank platform(15'x15'), that needs removed. Probably 3-4" stuff, a few cracks already in slab. I will need to dig down to plug old water lines at each location, too.

Never run a backhoe, but debating on rental (CAT 420-430 model), or just hire an excavator.

If a backhoe works, do you lift up a corner, and if it doesn't break, roll a post under the corner, then pound down on it.

Thanks.
