SW Ontario | I am currently pricing out some systems.
Some background.
I farm about 1200 acres, this year 700 acres corn, 225 acres winter wheat, 300 coloured beans.
I have a reduced tillage program, one pass in the fall (aer-way) and 1 pass in the spring with a JD 550 mulch-master.
I use the following equipment:
JD 7920 with 16 row 30" planter, and 16 row 856 cultivator for beans.
Kinzerepowered 8640 for the for the 32' mulch-master or the 25' Aer-way.
4430 with a 1100 gallon Hardi sprayer with 90' boom.
I do most of the work myself with a part time guy when needed. My problem is this year my part time help will be gone in april on a holiday in Australia, and this is BY FAR my busiest month.
The other issue I have is I getting bad tendonitis in my hands when I hold a steering wheel for any length of time.
So...what system would you recommend SF2 or RTK and what are your experiences with them.
I know the RTK is alot more, but for me, I believe it will make my life easier and the job will get done. I also have alot of knee trouble, and sometimes I would rather call the custom sprayer than do the job myself. If I can go to the field and never get out of the tractor, I will do alot more spraying. This is if I have confidence in the RTK for repeatability, I'm sure it will pay.
Also, all my land is within a 3 mile radius.
Thanks.
