Alen makes some good ones, filters are not cheap ($60-75 every 4-8 months).
My son has an Air Doctor, claims it filters do to 0.003 microns (filters cost ~$150)
Look for HEPA filters, smaller than 0.1 micron filtration, charcoal filters (for smoke/smells).
Hard to always compare but look at square footage of capacity AND noise level (some operate as low as 18db). Some cheaper ones don't do more than 100-150 square feet and/or 0.5 microns or more.
We run one in our bedroom and one in the living room of a big old farmhouse. First thing wife noticed was less dust. | |
