I am not going to respond to the Science part, but if we were able to go to the moon before, why is it so hard in today's environment to make this do-able now? Way more computing power, metals, composites, fuels. Yes, does seem to be lack of human brain power now.
The thing that is lacking is money. Estimated cost to returning to moon now by NASA is 20 to 30 billion. The Apollo program was estimated to have cost 25 billion in 1960 dollars. So figuring inflation, returning now, would probably only cost 1/3 or 1/4 or what it did initially. |
