Subject: RE: Commercial drone usage for spraying

I agree we will need some real world experience before we get this figured out. But we are looking forward to the challenges.
We are going to do some side by side testing with a ground rig and a helicopter to see how they compare to the spray drone with yield results.
We have a problem getting the helicopter in at the right time for the fungicide application on the corn and soybeans.
Insurance will be expensive like everything else that is new. The insurance company we are going to use specializes in drone insurance, Kimmel Aviation Insurance Agency, Inc.
We are located in SE Minnesota
We are doing most of our spraying this year on our own farm, just to get the bugs worked out. We want to see if we can hit our per acre targets. We want to see if we can get the same yield results as a ground rig or helicopter.
We will do some small demo's for area farmers to expose them to spray drones to get feed back from them.
We might be around $10 per acre this first year. helicopters in our area are $12-14 per acre.
