| " I got the cows " thing throws me a little. ??? Aside from that, A lot depends on your risk tolerance. A few years ago I would have told you to not go into debt and let the market come to you. It is now close enough if you want to pull the trigger. I think there will be a lot of older guys throw in the towel after this winter and give into their spouse and sell the cows and go south next winter. Take advantage of that and follow those cows to town and buy the 4 to 6 year olds (that have been mouthed). If you don't like a little risk then find an ol boy that will supply the cows for you on shares and in 3 years you will have your cows. If you dont want somebody watching over your shoulder then don't agree to a share agreement and wish you wouldn't have later. If it were me, at this stage of the cattle cycle, I would drive the wheels off the pickup to find a bank to buy the cows. Commodities are making their transition albeit slowly and cattle will benefit. | |
