WY, OK | It is not a Walmart issue nor a Checker stealing, it is a relatively new scam with the hanging cards as someone else said. A person steals the card that is hanging at an isle. They then take it and scratch off the security layer revealing the number and PIN. You then put the security layer back on, couple different ways to do that. Then take the card back and rehang it. Someone then "buys" the gift card and loads it. Meanwhile the scammer checks every few days on the card numbers they have stolen to see if any have been loaded/activated and use them as soon as they have either by cloning a card or using an E voucher.
I would never buy a gift card from a store now that this weakness has been found and utilized.
As for the site that has gift cards one of which is Raise.com, most are E-vouchers, and depending on where you go or where you eat you can save some good money using them. | |
