Subject: RE: House help - moderating the temperature

North of London
As others noted I am surprised that a house in 2006 would not have insulation in walls of garage.
If none I would insulate and then have an insulated overhead door put on.

The windows that allow the nice warm sun in during our cold months should have good drapes or better yet a reflective drape hung on hot sunny days to keep that heat out.
It can be a pain to have to hang a reflective drape but I like those better than just drapes that still absorb a lot of heat inside the room.

We have a procedure when temperature is high and sun is shinning to close windows and hang reflective drapes early in the morning, then reverse in evening to allow cool night air in with windows open.

BTW your house design looks like some in our daughters subdivision in the north of London.
