| I've plowed ground before with up to 6" of snow cover.
Why? For reasons more practical. Farther up north, daylight hours start to get drastically shorter this time of year. Also, "good weather" days get used to perform outdoor work preparing for winter... hauling in firewood, repairing carrols... so bad weather days and dark evenings are devoted to just sitting in warm dry cab.
I suppose that plowing habits were different in Grandpa's day.. when he worked the same ground with an Allis WD.
