Folks added central air to the farm house in the mid 70s. Hot water heat so no duct work. They put a drop down ceiling in a hallway that ran the length of the house and put the unit in the utility room. Vents are up high in the rooms with no vent in the kitchen (doesn't line up the hallway). Don't really notice the air not being in the kitchen. The house is a story and a half with no air upstairs. Works well with vents up high.
