E.Central MN | Our cattle got out a few times years ago. Had a couple bulls with the cows, got rid of all but one. And switched to a different brand of electric fencer. They don't get out anymore, maybe we've just been lucky, or maybe I'm making sure they have good feed all the time. I worry about deer running thru the fence or a tree limb falling on it, but with a fencer that shows a # you can tell if its got a strong enough arc to keep the cattle in so that helps. One time our cattle got spooked during a thunderstorm and ended up about 5 miles away. They went thru a garden of an elected official. He claimed that they did over $100 damage to his kids prize pumpkins.. A few years ago his cattle were getting out on the highway, my brother stopped to chase them in a couple times, not even a thank you. I would have been tempted to chase them the other way. | |
