Subject: RE: Humidity vs dewpoint vs dew

On a clear night, the surfaces are radiating energy to deep space (which is very cold). The surfaces will drop in temperature to below the nearby air temperature, If the surface temperature goes below the dew pont, the water vapor will condense, and dew will form.

Trees will shield the objects beneath them from 'seeing' the cold temperature in deep space. Thus, the will remain at the current air temperature, and if is above the dew point temperature, then dew will not form.
