What strategy does it take to make a beef animal grade?
We've been trying different rations to optimize a grade and yield sale,
I was wondering if anybody had better luck with different rations , days on feed, or feedlot strategies that work best.
We've sold three different times grade and yield this last year and the grades and grade yields have been all over the place. We've tried implants, no implants , higher roughage slow burn , high % distillers , screenings , high moisture corn , and a dry rolled corn .
The results were best on the slow burn no implant with haylage , corn, and wet gluten in the diet for us . But is the premiums of $11 per hundred on the whole load worth feeding another 90 days than getting docked on yield grade 4s that we're fed less days on a harder ration?

if you don't have the genetics foundation, you can do all the strategies in the book and never find consistency. Multiple generations of bulls with a Marbling EPD of 1 or greater builds the base to build off of.
