Depends on the calves feesk. Normally I’m providing everything they need through the self feeder..but I also will hand feed small amounts of hay to certain calves. Normal roughage source at my place is straw and corn stover. I wrap all my round bedding bales with a few extra points of moisture on them to maintain better quality and a little flavor.. kinda like corn shuck silage but not as wet or nutritious.
