Generally speaking, higher quality costs more up front, but less in the long run. In my opinion, better (possibly more expensive) wire is cheaper once you factor in post spacing, longevity, repair, reduced installation time, etc. Low carbon, class I, two point with 6" barb spacing is not in the same category as HT, class III, four point with 4" barb spacing. High quality wire doesn't happen by accident, for many technical reasons, and we can dive into that if you'd like, but the easiest way to prove that it's better is to put it in a sceptics hands, preferably an intelligent sceptic. The offer stands. I'll send you some on my dime, and I'm not asking you to buy anything. Just use a little of it, and let me know how you like it and if you can tell a difference in quality. Fencing is actually making some pretty good technical advances in quality and efficiency, but I can understand wanting to stick with what you know. No worries either way.
