We get a lot of vole damage during winter and leaves hay ground rough. We also have a lot of rocks.A lot of folks have rollers and roll their fields in the spring when the ground is wet. It smooths the fields and if there are rocks it pushes them down too. One of my neighbors says that since they started doing that, they haven't broken one guard on the mower.
