Gday everyone, just some pics of the last few weeks here.

We are still in drought here so no pics of lush pastures today. Normally I would be grazing oats this time of year but couldn't get any planted this season. The days are starting to feel more like spring here so probably time to abandon the oat plans and look to planting millet or forage sorghum assuming some spring rain. Having a few showers here today and just passed 4" of rain for the year.

July (mid winter) here had the warmest july days on record but also the coldest nights due to lack of clouds and no moisture in the atmosphere to buffer the temperature. The air was so dry there was no frost at all even though temps were well below freezing, first time I have had water fittings split due to freezing and the water to my house was frozen one morning. We normally get frost here but not severe enough to damage water fittings.

Pics 1-3, I sold the last of the yearlings at the Tamworth sale yard, normally I would fatten these on oats and sell direct to slaughter but no feed for them this year. Mine are the 2 pens of silver steers, they went straight into a feedlot.

Pics 4,5 I wondered why this big fella was standing at the cattle trough for so long, had to break the ice out for him.

Pics 6,7 Does he qualify as chrome? I had a Murray grey x Hereford cow I think I sold in 2002, only Murray grey bulls since, that whiteface keeps coming through.

Pics 8-13 Flatpack feeder, I have set this feeder up as a creep feeder. My plan is to get the calves eating from the feeder so I can wean them as early as possible. I will have to buy a weaner ration but the dry cows will need less hay.
