NCIN | Most all the pigs in the fairs in Indiana are show pigs Seems to me the commercial hogs are the "bacon" makers. (Everything tastes better with bacon on it, right?) Our family has been able to sell butcher pigs and the people buying them appreciate knowing where and how the pigs were raised. Starting to develop a waiting list on people wanting our pork.
Packers are shying away from fair hogs. John Q. Public assumes drugs are the biggest issue but a couple buyers that I have talked to say hair length also plays a big part in it too.
Hair length is easily solved but unfortunately drugs are not. | |
