Had one of those when I was young. The stuff hanging down was a type of heavy cloth material, almost like a tarp. I don't think the stuff under the mesh was the same. I remember Dad buying it and helping him hang it. From my memory, it dripped oil constantly and you couldn't control the flow to the flap very well.
