It might be possible you've never seen him breed anything because it's painful for him to do it because of the post leggedness. Never mind he's got a bad wheel right now. Being post legged is harder for them to mount and he probably keeps it to a minimum. It'll only get worse the heavier/ older he gets.

If a cow is in heat and a bull is active, I'd think if you spent an hour watching, you'd see him mount. And for the most part it wouldn't even take half that time to see it.

If you want to know what proper leg structure is on a bull, try to find one that's 10 years old and weighs over a ton. He'll give you the best representation of what to look for. On the other hand though, it's easier to find a yearling bull that looks correct but the true test is to see how old they get because even though a guy might think a yearling is correct on their feet, opinions could be off or the bull changes as they get older and carrying around more weight. It's almost a luck of the draw type of deal and easier said than done to pick a bull with the "perfect" leg structure. A lot of good ones out there but unfortunately, there might be more of the bad ones than good.
