Western Illinois | But last year we had subsoil moisture. We do not have that this year. And if you look at a drought map, northern Missouri and western Illinois are in a moderate zone. Yes, it can still be decent if the forecast changes and we get timely rains. I’m not crying total loss by any means. If this forecast of heat holds true without any significant moisture, my area will be losing yield. Could be fine. Could be 10-15 bpa down. Could be 50-75. We will know in a few weeks.
I’ll say this about last year..... a cool second half of July and August made our big yields, but we also pollinated a little later than this year too.
