| You can speculate that the Chinese will just move American beans through third party ports to avoid the tariffs but you're forgetting that the Chinese government has set out to punish trump by deliberately punishing American grain producers and they aren't stupid.
Bloomberg has already pointed out that cargos previously loaded for China but which will arrive late have been resold to another nation for it's own use specifically because it would have arrived too late.
Besides we know that ever since China announced their tariffs, Chinese merchants have been scouring the globe for alternative protein sources, fish meal,peanut meal out of Africa etc.
Don't put too much stock in this idea that they are just going to repaper US soybeans, that would be self defeating for the Chinese. There may be some of that but less than you might expect. | |
